St. Louis Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Our mission is to enhance independence, empower individuals, and enrich lives of people who are visually impaired or blind.  The programs and services offered by St. Louis Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired include low vision medical exams and low vision therapy, assistive technology, adaptive daily living skills development, orientation and mobility, transportation, support and peer groups, recreational activities and more.

The Sight Collective

Drews Low Vision Clinic

The Low Vision Clinic provides functional vision assessments using a rehabilitation model. It is staffed by a doctor of optometry, one part-time volunteer doctor of optometry, and low vision therapists.

Orientation and Mobility

Orientation and Mobility Specialists will design a specialized program tailored to your needs for safe and independent travel in your home and community. Tools might include a white cane, dog guide or technology to best meet your travel goals.

Social Work

Social Workers will conduct an initial assessment with individuals to identify how vision loss has affected their lives and to determine what services may be of help.

Transportation

The Society provides transportation for the blind and visually impaired that includes medical appointments, grocery shopping, pharmacy, post office etc.
