Missouri School For The Blind
The Outreach Department of Missouri School for the Blind has developed a statewide program of comprehensive services for students with visual impairments and for those who are deafblind. Several agencies collaborate with Outreach including DeafBlind Advisory Council, Blind Task Force, Rehabilitation Services for the Blind, MPACT, Delta Gamma Center, First Steps, Regional and State Interagency Councils, National Center for Deafblindness, St Louis Society for the Blind, Lighthouse for the Blind, Missouri Assistive Technology, Parents as Teachers, Missouri School for the Deaf and Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled.

Missouri DeafBlind Technical Assistance Project
The purpose of the Missouri DeafBlind Technical Assistance Project is to develop partnerships, coordinate service networking and provide systematic training. Technical assistance, training and resources are available for individuals with vision and hearing loss (birth through 22 years of age), their families and service providers. Services are coordinated with local education agencies, adult service providers to enhance networking and to build expertise in the community.
Missouri School for the Blind Library Media Center
The MSB Library Media Center (LMC) provides materials and services for students and staff at Missouri School for the Blind. The LMC has more than 20,000 UEB braille, recorded, large print and regular print books and magazines, as well as many music CDs, eBook readers, iPads, magnifiers and more available for loan. Library classes provide students with the opportunity to check out books as well as to learn about library materials and how to find and use them. Three different library clubs also engage students of all ages in reading and enjoying books. In addition, the LMC houses archival materials about the school’s past.
Missouri Instructional Resource Center for the Visually Impaired
The Missouri Instructional Resource Center f/t Visually Impaired (MIRC) coordinates the registration of students who are legally blind and administers the Federal Quota Funds. By law, the funds must be used to purchase braille and large print texts and specialized educational materials produced by the American Printing House for the Blind (APH). The students may be in public, parochial, or home schools and agencies statewide.
MIRC assists in product and textbook availability for approximately 1250 kids across the state.
MoSPIN-Missouri Statewide Parent Involvement Network
The purpose of the Missouri Statewide Parent Involvement Network (MoSPIN) is to provide a free homebased program for families of children, birth through five years of age, who are visually impaired, including those with multiple disabilities and combined vision and hearing challenges. Services are coordinated with local education agencies, adult service providers and deafblind task forces to enhance networking and to build expertise in the community.
MoSPIN meets the needs of approximately 55 families across the state of Missouri and has empowered over 1100 parents since its inception.

The Missouri School for the Blind Outreach Services offers assessment and technical assistance in the areas of Vision Education and Orientation & Mobility to all Local and State Board Operated programs in Missouri. These services are intended to support programming efforts. Assessments are conducted by professionals certificated in their respective fields. Services are at no cost to the district/program.

Our family engagement coordinator increases parental involvement in education and transition opportunities and provides information and training to help families gain the knowledge and skills they need to be the best and often first educator of their child, increase the ability to interact with and help their children learn and partner productively with service providers.

DeafBlind Project
The Missouri DeafBlind Project strives to improve services and results to youth who are deafblind and their families by strengthening collaborations among local, state and national teams, provide consultations and professional development. These efforts increase early identification and intervention, increase access to communication and the general education environments, facilitate family engagement, support successful transitions, and increase the number of highly-qualified personnel. Technical assistance, training and resources are available for families and service providers of individuals with vision and hearing loss (birth through 21 years of age).
